2013 Parsons' Ridge Pinot Noir
The Parsons’ Ridge Block is situated on a saddle in the estate vineyard with vines facing different directions. As a result, grapes are expressive in numerous ways. We ferment these diverse lots separately, which we finesse through blending. The 2013 vintage was picked at 23.5-23.8 Brix. It spent 14 days on skin using pulse air as a cap management regimen, with a small percentage of punchdowns and pumpovers, and fermented in stainless with ambient yeasts and pied de cuve. Ageing occurred for 12 months in French oak, 27% new. This wine consists of a blend from 11 different select barrels.
The 2013 is a blend from 11 different barrels crafted from the same block. Hardy scents of dark cherries, sarsaparilla, tobacco and clove start this pleasing combination of depth and richness. The palate is packed with fruit, including black plum, loganberry, dried cherry, and mission fig. Warming cedar notes linger on the high-toned finish.
