The vineyard block dubbed Swan Song during the 2010 vintage because of its losing battle with phylloxera finally succumbed in late 2013; this will be the last vintage we produce a Swan Song Pinot Noir. The 31-year-old Pommard vines, pulling from their deepest and most intact roots, have saved the best fruit for the end of their lives.
On the nose, smoky berry and dried cherry compliment floral notes, anise and mocha. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering black cap raspberry with a hint of cola. The wine finishes with a spicy note and velvety tannins.
Brilliant red. Fresh red and dark berry and floral scents pick up hints of white pepper, cola and succulent herbs with air. Juicy and energetic in style, offering bitter cherry and raspberry flavors that deepen and become sweeter with air. Shows very good depth and flesh for the vintage and finishes with repeating berry character, silky persistence and even, sneaky tannins.
