July Fourth Weekend at the Estate

Stop by July 4th and 5th and help us support Ecotrust's Farm to School Program . This program helps bring the bounty of local farms to the cafeteria's of our local public school's (sure beats the mystery meat and veggies I ate!). Montinore, along with several other wineries in the Willamette Valley will donate a 4th of each entrance or tasting fee to the program (click here for a full list of wineries participating).

Bring a picnic to the Estate for soft grass, shade and perhaps a game of croquet overlooking our organic/biodynamic vineyards. Come inside and savor a wine flight selected from our seventeen "Red, White and True Oregon Wines," while enjoying live music and "The True Oregon Art" of Douglas Remington.

LIVE MUSIC
Sat, July 4 • 1–4pm Tim Troutman
Sun, July 5 • 1–4pm Gentle Rain

Montinore on PBS

We're featured in a short video on biodynamic farming and wine that played recently on KCTS-TV in Seattle. Watch for a glimpse of our infamous "Chaos Vortex" machine.

Montinore takes part in the Vinology series

Montinore is teaming up again with our fellow North Willamette Vintner members to both teach and learn in the Vinology educational series. Montinore Proprietor Rudy Marchesi offers a course called Organic & Biodynamic Viticulture: A Practical Guide. If you want to learn more about how wine grapes are grown, this is a great opportunity to learn.

Read more about the Vinology series here.

Take Back Sundays!

Come to the winery on a Sunday and enjoy free music from 1–4pm and 2-for-1 wine tastings all day.

Read the article in The Oregonian on Biodynamics

"Biodynamic practices take root in Oregon wineries"
by Dana Tims, The Oregonian

"Rudy Marchesi began using biodynamic methods at Montinore Estate near Forest Grove not long after he began managing the 230-acre operation in 2001. Although scientific experiments designed to quantify biodynamics' results are scarce, Marchesi said he has seen considerable physical changes in his vineyards that he attributes directly to biodynamics."

Estate Grown,
Biodynamically Farmed,
Family Owned

Montinore Estate is a family owned and operated winery in the northern Willamette Valley that produces Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau.

Here we make wine only from the grapes we grow. All of our 230 acres of grapes are farmed using the strict methods of Biodynamic farming. In addition, we honor Demeter USA's winemaking standards in our winery practices.

Our mission is to create unique wines that are true to their varietal characteristics as well as to this special corner of the Willamette Valley.

Our tasting room and grounds are open to visitors daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Here, you will have an opportunity to sample our core wines as well as limited bottlings and wines that can only be found in our tasting room.  We welcome your visit.

News & Press

2007 Pinot Gris
From Oregon's Willamette Valley – the birthplace of Pinot Gris cultivation in America – comes this fresh and frisky Pinot Gris from Montinore Estate.  Bright aromas of pear, mineral, citrus and herb invite a sip and an oyster slurp with flavors of pear, lemon and green apple.  A delicate finish of melon and mango in an added bonus.  – Chuck Hill's Wines of the Week, 1/26/09

2006 Pinot Gris – Top 100 Values of 2008   Bright and juicy brimming with peach, pear and melon fruit. – Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator

2007 Almost Dry Riesling
TWO and 1/2 STARS - Stone fruit of apricot, lime and tangerine and what can be imagined as a petrol hint and mineral on the ripe nose and bright, linear palate. Especially good for the price.
The San Francisco Chronicle, 11/6/08

Our single- and double-blind tastings consistently show Montinore making some of Oregon's finest wines – both whites andreds. – Andy Perdue, Editor, Wine Press Northwest, 11/4/08
2007 Montinore Estate, Willamette Valley Estate Reserve Pinot Noir ($28)Owner Rudy Marchesi has done a remarkable job reinvigorating Montinore since taking over the reins in 2001. A pronounced emphasis on organic and biodynamic farming methods has produced a 2007 reserve pinot noir that should get nothing but better with age. Savory notes of ripe cherry and blackberry, spiced with hints of mild black pepper, make each sip delectable. Dana Tims, The Oregonian, 11/17/08

2007 Montinore Estate Willamette Valley Müller-Thurgau ($8)
Montinore has done it again, offering a Muller-Thurgau that's the perfect aperitif at a price that can't be beat. The wine's aromas of grapefruit and fresh herbs are treats in their own right, but this low-alcohol delight really kicks into gear when paired with gorgonzola, pear chutney and sesame crackers. Its fruity, semi-sweetness finishes drier than it starts. – Dana Tims, The Oregonian, 11/17/08
